The Duckling that Lagged Behind

I live close to two ponds a ponds separated by a walking path. One Spring day as I sat on a bench just enjoying the beautiful day, I noticed a mother duck taking all 11 of her little baby ducklings out of the one pond, up a very steep hill and then into the other pond. Ten of the ducklings made it safely up the hill and into the pond behind their mama, but there was one little duck that was left struggling to get up the hill. As I sat there and watched the little duckling struggle to make it,  I wondered if the mama duck would miss her one little duckling and come back for it, or if I should go over and give it a little push up the hill. But before I could make a move, a  Canadian goose came swimming over, got out of the water and nudged the little duckling on up the hill. Happily it joined its mama and siblings in the pond. I just rejoiced to the Lord to see how a different breed of duck had a Mama's heart and came to the rescue. What a blessed sermon to me that day! I was thankful to have witnessed God's creatures caring for one another!
