Roses in November
Last summer. My husband was undergoing chemo for Lymphoma (stage 4)and we were in an auto accident in May. The car was totaled, and we became roommates for a week in the hospital. I had a concussion and was bruised from eye to toe! My husband had a cracked rib and a broken leg! I stayed with our son's family following release, and had weeks of in-home therapy. My husband joined me at our son's home until I was able for us to move home. It was difficult, especially the first week. But our roses were in full bloom by this time. At first I enjoyed them from the window, then pushed myself to bring them inside. Of course, roses need to be kept trimmed to do their best, so I did my best to keep them trimmed, sprayed for Japanese Beetles, etc.
But I thanked God for the beauty of the roses to lift my spirits and to encourage me to "press on".

It was a reminder that the Spirit was with me, and would see us through the trials we were facing. My husband's chemo was successful, despite the poor odds we had been given, and those roses bloomed into November, when the verdict came in.
